I had a good friend out in the USA (Kevin) call me one day in late October and say "Hey I really think you should record a Christmas album, I got a good feeling about it". At first my gut was saying thats impossible with the time frame, work schedule and budget, but at the same time felt i should heed these words and just go for it, after all I really like Kevin. The advice given was just be yourself and record what comes natural. So I called up my good friend and partner in RP, Dan and asked if he was up to recording a few tunes for christmas? This spread to another invite to a new friend Dave.
Long story short what comes natural is good vibes and relationship, having a cup of good cheer with friends around and just playing music in a warm and welcoming home . We decided we'd kick the couches out of my living room dust off the old recording machine, have a warm bowl of soup together and just record songs off the floor. After hearing the playback I realized you can often hear my little bulldog Sophie snore as she sleeps at the feet of Dave in the background as well as the occasional stomping of my 5 year old boy trying to be quiet.
We decided to leave it all in, mistakes and all and not over produce.
Its basically an invitation to our living room for the holidays. We hope you like it. Merry Christmas
